About me
My name is Mila and I am from Manitou Springs, a special little town nestled at the base of Pikes Peak. I aim to cultivate love and respect for the land through place based learning and a fungal lens. I am passionate about integrating art, science, and storytelling into forays and teaching fungal ecology. Foraging mushrooms has been a prominent family activity for my whole life, tagging along with the pikes peak mycology club and foraying through years that were better for some mushrooms and worse for others. I studied conservation biology at Colorado State University, where I founded a mycology club, directed a fungal film, and gained experience leading workshops and walks. I have been volunteering at the mushroom festival for 3 years now, photographing the puff ball, assisting with workshops, and one year I was honored to commence the fest with the ringing of the singing bowl. The mushroom community is like a family to me and I am excited to introduce new folks to the inspiring creatures that are fungi!
