About me
Giuliana Furci is a Chilean-British-Italian field mycologist, speaker, author, and founder of the world's first non-profit organization dedicated to fungi, Fundación Fungi or Fungi Foundation. She is a Harvard University Associate, National Geographic Explorer, author of a series of mushroom field guides in Chile, co-chair of the IUCN Fungal Conservation Committee and co-author of titles such as the 1st State of the World’s Fungi and the paper delimiting the term ‘funga’ and the 3F Proposal - fauna, flora & funga.
Talk 1: Funga: making change for fungi.In a global effort for the political acknowledgment of fungi on par to plants and animals the 3F Proposal has made more progress than any other campaign for fungi. In this talk we will look at the strategy, the timeline and the future after all the progress made.
Talk 2: Ancestral Uses of Fungi: ethnomycological reports from literature and the field.We will take a look at previously unreported uses of fungi buried in literature, as well as reports from Mapuche bonds with mushrooms in Chile, accompanied by a deep dive into the Ethnomycological Ethical Guidelines developed by the Fungi Foundation.
