Clarissa Arana is a Colorado-based mycologist, foray leader, and passionate citizen scientist with over a decade of experience in mushroom identification, ecology, and community education. She serves as the Founder and President of the Front Range Mycological Society (FRMS) and works in communications and programming with the Colorado Mycological Society (CMS), where she helps expand public access to fungal education through forays, workshops, and outreach.
Clarissa’s work focuses on connecting people to fungi through ecology, conservation, and responsible foraging practices. She is especially interested in mycoremediation, community science, and integrating traditional ecological knowledge into modern mycology. Known for her engaging and inclusive teaching style, she aims to make fungi accessible, empowering, and rooted in a deeper relationship with the natural world.
